Emusic Review

Famous for delivering all of their music downloads in unrestricted .mp3 format and loved by audiophiles all over the world, eMusic is one of the most unique music download services available out there. Because of their unrestricted DRM policy however, they don't have too many big name music studios signed on with them.

Despite not having many of the gargantuan music labels onboard, eMusic still boasts the second-largest catalogue of music available in the world, second only to iTunes.

Features

Unlike most of the other services reviewed on this site, eMusic subscription service lets you actually download songs to own.

eMusic Plans

  • Basic $9.99 - 30 Song Downloads per month (.33/song)
  • Plus $14.99 - 50 Song Downloads per month (.30/song)
  • Premium $19.99 - 75 Song Downloads per month (.27/song)

Since all their music downloads in unrestricted .mp3 format, eMusic tracks are compatible with any mp3 player on the market, including the iPod, which none of the other music subscription services can say.

Emusic also boasts the largest collection of classical and independent music ever to be found on the net.

Ease of Use

Emusic has a web-based interface as well as new software they developed earlier this year called eMusic remote, which sports a clean and simple interface, handles music downloads, can browse eMusic's site and allows you to organize your music efficiently.

One very appreciated feature eMusic remote has is that you can automatically sync all downloaded music right to your favourite music player's library, such as iTunes, or Windows Media Player.

Support

Emusic has online based support as well as dedicated forums where you can go if you ever needed help, or just want to hang out and talk about the current music scene.

Conclusion

Emusic is the most economical choice of all the music subscription services we have reviewed on this site. With the basic plan, music downloads work out to around 30 cents apiece. We at SaveOnTunes.com absolutely love this service and use it often, though someone who is into only the Music Top 40 list may not always find what they are looking for. For everyone else, take their free 30 day trial, download your 50 complimentary songs (a limited-time exclusive offer), and see what you think.
